Rural Industries
Those industries which are established in rural area with small investment by the utilization of local raw materials,resources,knowledge,skill and man power are called rural industry. It is based on rural and local technology. Rural industry helps to alleviate rural poverty.
1. Small scale industry
Those industries which one established with low capital or low investment are called small scale industries. Furniture,small metal works etc are the example of small scale industries. The annual transaction of small scale industry is less than 20 lakh per year.
2. Cottage industry
Those industries which utilize local raw materials with traditional skill,knowledge and culture are called cottage industries. Cottage industries help to preserve local art and culture of the society. For examples:printing,handicraft,paper work,clay work,wearing knitting etc.
Importance of Small and Cottage Industries
1. Easy to establish
Small scale industry is established in low cost. It helps to preserve local art and culture of society. It is established for simple technique or technology. It utilize local raw material with traditional skill,knowledge and culture so it is established easily.
2. Employment opportunities
It helps to create employment in society because of it is established through local man power,local skills,knowledge,culture and technology. It helps to earning money through selling their products and the employers use this money for fulfill their basic needs.
3. Use of local resource
It is established through local resources. It is not established in high cost so it use local resources or local raw materials in their products. Small scale industries are importing light like they used a relativity low proportion of imported equipment and material as compared with the total amount of capital used in them
4. Preservation of art and culture
Small and cottage industries is established in rural areas for preservation of art and culture and earn money for fulfill their basic needs. It helps to showing their arts and culture to others or it is preserved.
5. Source of national income
It helps to increase national income because of it make some creative things or man buying it and their income is increased or national income also increased. It helps to increase in GDP of nation.
6. Source of foreign exchange
There are so many kinds of people or tourists are coming to visit in Nepal. They have seen some creative or beautiful things in rural areas which is made by small and cottage industry.They have buying this product or we have earn foreign currency. It is most popular or important for earning foreign currency.
7. Poverty reduction
Small and cottage industry have create employment opportunities and they have earn money to fulfill their basic needs. It helps to made poverty free society or poverty is reduced through small and cottage industry.
8. Fulfillment of local needs
There are so many kinds of small and cottage industry in rural areas. They make dhoko,namlo,nanglo,thunsey or other so many kinds of local things and they sell it for their income or they fulfill their basic needs and other needs through that money.
9. Less industrial pollution
There are no any kinds of petrol,diesel or other polluted things are not used in small and cottage industries. It helps to make pollution free society.
